Gyroscope 1.9.2 Release Notes
We’ve never felt so balanced!
This update adds even more data types to Gyroscope, expanding the types of information we can track about your body. If you track your bodyfat percentage, blood pressure or blood sugar with a HealthKit supported device, they will automatically show in Gyroscope!

Blood Pressure
Keep an eye on your cardiovascular health and stress levels with the new blood pressure tracking. Over time it can be a very valuable measurement to check and tells a lot about your overall health status.
We now sync blood pressure from HealthKit, making Gyroscope compatible with the popular Omron monitor, many other devices. Measurements can also be manually entered if you use a device that doesn’t sync to your phone.
Glucose Tracking
If you are diabetic, then of course you need to check your glucose levels regularly. Even otherwise, these monitors are now becoming available for people to learn about what is happening inside their body.
Some devices can sync blood sugar levels to HealthKit (and Gyroscope), like the One Drop or iHealth Glucometer, which can both be bought directly from Apple or various other stores.
There are also many other devices, like Precision Xtra which work well for measuring levels but just don’t sync to your phone. Those measurements can be manually entered in HealthKit ,and then should instantly show in Gyroscope. Other continuous glucose monitoring solutions like Dexcom can also sync to HealthKit.
Meal Tracking
Version 1.8 added support for calorie tracking and carbs/fat/protein breakdowns. However, many apps like Lifesum or Loseit had issues with how they synced data to HealthKit, making it hard for us to sync accurate data.
We’ve made a bunch of improvements to the HealthKit syncing in this version, which should make nutrition data much more accurate no matter which app you use to track it. If you make a mistake and log the wrong thing, deleting it in HealthKit will also remove it from Gyroscope.
Bodyfat Percentage
If you have a scale that syncs to HealthKit, those bodyfat readings will now show in Gyroscope. If you use other offline services like DXA scans, those can now be manually entered to HealthKit as well. Over time you’ll be able to see graphs of your bodyfat percentage and how it goes up and down.
Menstruation
As the start of our upcoming set of women’s health features, we can now sync period history from HealthKit. A variety of popular iPhone apps can be used to track it — like Clue, Glow, Eve, and others. Unlike other stats in Gyroscope (like steps) which are easy to share, this won’t be viewable by friends and won’t be shown anywhere on your profile.
New meditation reports
If you’ve been meditating regularly throughout the week, this new card in the weekly report will show an overview of when and for how long.
Deleting HealthKit data
In addition to adding more HealthKit data to Gyroscope, we’ve made it possible to take data out by deleting it in HealthKit. Since our syncing is so fast that it is often instant, entering invalid data into HealthKit even for a second has caused issues with people having wrong data.
Perhaps you accidentally put an extra zero when entering your calories, or put your weight as pounds instead of kilos. In some situations, apps would write invalid data that need to be cleaned up, or workouts could be saved as the wrong type by default, like running instead of biking.
Now deleting an incorrect measurement in HealthKit will also clean it up in Gyroscope at the same time.
Improved Travel Mapping
The mapping for the weekly and monthly reports focuses on the biggest cluster of places, to focus on the most interesting details. In some cases though, you may want to zoom out and see the big picture.
The new airplane/car button in the top corner will let you switch between long distance and local views on some of the map reports.
Traveling across timezones
For travelers to new timezones, the time zone settings in Gyroscope would often get out of date and mess up the display of graphs.
Now the app will automatically update your time zone as it changes, so it will always be up to date as soon as the time setting on your phone changes. All of this happens in the background, so there is nothing you need to do besides just opening the app to let it sync the time changes.
App Store Feature
The Gyroscope app was recently featured by Apple in the App Store!
If you’re enjoying the update, please don’t forget to leave a review and recommend the app to others!
