The latest version of Gyroscope is now available in the App Store! We’ve made a ton of improvements to the existing features and added a new Pro feature that people have been requesting for a long time.

Goal Tracking on Gyroscope

Instead of just viewing your latest stats, now you have the power to change them. We’ll help you pick an achievable goal for the week and then stay on track to achieving it. At the end, you’ll see your progress in the new weekly report and can share your results or try again.

It’s super easy to start a goal!

The weekly goals can help you achieve whatever it is you want to achieve — losing weight, being more productive, sleeping better, or even meditating regularly. Anything that is tracked on Gyroscope can now be gradually improved.

We decided to focus on just one week at a time rather than longer monthly or yearly goals. Unlike many other lofty goal setting features — “I want to lose 20 pounds!” or “Let’s run 1,000 miles this year” —these are very simple and low commitment changes that you can easily do.

The goals are based on your historical average, so you can focus on making just a slight improvement each week, building better habits and compounding improvements without getting injured or discouraged. Just a 10% improvement every week will quickly get you to whatever you want to achieve.

Streamlined setup process

Gyroscope has tons of integrations and features, and it can be overwhelming to get started from scratch with all of the different apps and products.

Now we’ve made that into a very streamlined and easy process, showing examples of what you get and simple guides to set up each feature — like location tracking, computer tracking, DNA integrations, and more.

Many of the features can be set up for free with just apps, even if you don’t have any wearables. We’ve also added some recommendations for our favorite hardware products in the Gyroscope store.

New Layouts

Share your goals progress

Sharing what you set your goals to can be a great motivator to stay at them. Throughout the week you can also share how you’re doing, and see how far you’ve progressed vs how much time you have remaining.

Top social photos from last week

If you’ve connected your Instagram or Twitter, we are now pulling some of those photos and showing them in the report. Photos can represent many things, from special events or important moments.

The most liked and memorable ones will show up the next week for you to review, along with some extra context about that day. There is also a new photo grid of the top photos from the week that you can re-share.

Unique report backgrounds

Instead of your cover photo, if you had photos from the previous week we will use those to differentiate the backgrounds.

Pro tools to help you sleep better!

We’ve improved the sleep analytics to show you more stats about how much sleep you get, when you go to sleep and wake up, etc. If you don’t have an expensive sleep tracker or aren’t currently tracking your sleep, Gyroscope can automatically calculate it for you with the Sleep AI feature.

Bug Fixes

No more sleeping in a graveyard

Gyroscope has been getting popular in China lately and we got a strange bug report about our line height…

At first I didn’t understand why this was so amusing to many people.

The top of the text was getting cut off and significantly changing the meaning. This problem and any similar issues with text display should now be fixed in 1.8.2 and you can rest safely at home.

Better Moves data syncing

Previously some people had issues with syncing Moves locations, but now that problem has been resolved and it should be 100% reliable. As you identify places in the Moves app, you should see them instantly show up on Gyroscope as your latest location.

If you haven’t yet connected Moves, we highly recommend it to get great maps of where you walked, location history, and more.

Improved steps accuracy

There was a bug where occasionally your steps would show as a really low number after syncing from multiple sources. This has now been fixed and it should always show the latest value.

If for some reason HealthKit data hasn’t synced properly, which can happen if it was added later or if we had some downtime, Pro members can now do a quick sync from the Pro tab to manually refresh the recent history and get everything caught up.

Ready to get started?

If you’re liking Gyroscope, you should make sure to get Gyroscope Pro which includes all of our best features, including the new goals tracking.
