Happy Spring!

The first thing you’ll notice in the new app is we’ve added some fresh new images to the initial loading screen when you boot up. Everything important is stored on the servers, so it can take a few seconds to load all the latest info and start showing it. Our recent database maintenance is also complete, so all your heart rates should be displaying in the app again.

The app also has a caching system now, to load your data faster and let you access it even when offline for a brief time (like on an airplane or in an area without signal). This also reduces the battery usage, by reducing the amount of network requests that need to be made!

To make sure you’re seeing the latest stats when you open the app, you can always do a pull to refresh. In some cases, you may need to wait 1–2 minutes for all the syncing to finish, and then try a pull to refresh again.

Understand your health and avoid getting sick!

The Health Score has been in beta since late last year, and we’ve been improving the accuracy based on feedback from everyone. It shows in the Pro tab in the app, and now can also be viewed on the website!

Remember to wear your apple watch or Oura ring at night for the best experience, and to enable the new immune system monitoring to help you avoid getting sick!

Load more data from more places!

Running routes from Apple Watch

In the latest iPhone app, we now sync workout maps directly from Apple Health in addition to other apps like Strava. This means you can go running or cycling with just your Apple Watch and see the route in Gyroscope afterwards. This gives access to all of the shareable map layouts, as well as the classic calorie views like donuts & cookies.

Those who track with two separate apps — like Apple Health and Strava may need to manually delete one of the runs for now. We’re no longer automatically doing this, to give you the option to keep the one you prefer.

Get sleep from Fitbit & Oura ring

The app supports more sleep sources, now getting sleep and heart rate from Fitbit and Oura ring directly. Once it syncs, you can open Gyroscope and see your sleep score and detailed analysis!

If you don’t have a sleep tracker, the Sleep AI will still run automatically each morning based on phone & watch activity so you can save it to your history!

Music history from Lastfm

Track Spotify, iTunes and most other music apps with our lastfm integration (Pro only). There have been a few changes to their privacy settings, so if your latest music isn’t showing you may want to check your history isn’t set to hidden in order to continue the syncing.

New social experiences on Gyroscope

The friends tab will let you compete with your friends and other public members nearby.

With the new competitions feature, it is not just steps, but a balanced health competition including things like meditation and sleep. If you have friends with an Apple Watch or who are interested in being more healthy, add them in Gyroscope and you can start competing to keep each other accountable.

We post a few of these on our Instagram but now you can see the whole feed of new content in the app and show your support directly! If you’re debating whether to go work out or need some extra inspiration, this is a great spot to start out.

And for the 5% of people who don’t like being social or don’t want to see what other people are doing, the whole friends tab can now be disabled in settings!

Now you can deeply customize your experience

Everyone has a different life, different devices, different goals, and uses Gyroscope differently. We’ve improved the way you can customize the app to make it perfectly fit your needs—all from the “Customize Display” screen.

Dark/Light mode

Some of the most basic ones are around the color & readability of the app. You can choose from the classic “dark” mode, which makes the graphs and details pop, or the light mode, which is optimized for outdoor viewing and maximum contrast.

Walking Workouts

You can now customize workouts to count “walking” from the Apple Watch in the list.By default, outdoor walks are not included in your workouts list. Walking is only used to increase the step count, since many people walk dozens of times a day and the workout counts could get too inflated to be useful.

However, for some of our members an actual walk is their preferred (or only possible) type of workout, so this customization will adjust the app to count workouts correctly.

Improved Maps

This version also fixes the maps in Places, so now they don’t get wrongly zoomed in when first loading. If you view your daily report from yesterday, you will be able to see the map of places at the top.

More improvements coming soon!

We’ve been working on a lot of new things, including a new Apple Watch app to help track more of your life.

Stay tuned for more big updates soon!
