This update improves the Vault, introducing some private data types that only you can see on Gyroscope. This version also improves the HealthKit syncing, which should be more reliable now for heart rate data.

Pizza Counter

For workouts, we’ve got a few food options to see how many calories you’ve burned—cookies, donuts, and now by popular demand: pizza.

Once you’ve had a good workout and gotten your pizza slices, you’re going to want to off your hard work on Instagram & Twitter. We’ve streamlined the sharing options to make that easier to do.

By default, the image will be saved to a Gyroscope album in your photos—so you can do whatever you want with it from there. Some popular options are to text it to a friend, post to a Gyroscope group, or share on Instagram.

New Mood Tracking

Our goal with Gyroscope is to help people live healthier and happier lives. It’s fairly straightforward to measure whether someone is healthy — with heart rate, activity levels, bodyfat percentage, blood pressure, and more.

Happiness, however is a bit more tricky to optimize. Mental health is a big part of being healthy, which is why we’ve focused on things like building great sleep tracking and meditation features lately.

Now we’ve also added a simple mood tracker to the Vault, so you can privately log your emotions and see how they change over time. Taking a full measurement takes less than a minute, so you can do it a few times a day to start building up a detailed history.

Be sure to answer them honestly and as accurately as possible. The mood history is stored in the vault and only viewable by you — so your friends will not be able to view any of this data.

Improved HealthKit sync performance

Syncing should be better than ever with this release. A few people had issues previously with having too many heart rates or steps not syncing accurately. If you still have any HealthKit syncing issues on this update, please try logging out and back in to make sure you’re on the latest code.

Android Beta

All of these features are now available for everyone on iOS, but we’ve also started developing a beta version of the Android app.

There are still a bunch of bugs and issues that need to be sorted out, but it is mostly the same as the iOS experience now—and we’re really excited to start having people try it out. We’ll be sending more invites soon, so if you’re interested in being part of that, be sure to get on the waitlist.
